Portable gadgets that matter!

lumix-fz35Panasonic just announced the release of  the Lumix DCM-FZ35 Camera by this September.  It includes advanced features like HD video recording with the ability to capture photos and video as a point and shoot camera. The Lumix DCM-FZ35 camera makes a great choice for a new or advanced user who wants a hybrid device that shoots high-quality still and motion images. It will feature an 18x zoom lens with equivalent focal length of 27-486mm, a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor, and Panasonic’s Power O.I.S. optical image stabilization system.

%CODE1% On the back panel of the Lumix DCM-FZ35, it has a 2.7 inch LCD screen and  an electronic viewfinder. The Lumix FZ35 can record 720p HD video, which includes AVCHD Lite encoding for advanced compression of HD video with Dolby Digital audio recording. The Lumix DCM-FZ35 Camera also will come  with optical image stabilization and facial recognition.  In addition, a nice feature called “High Dynamic Mode” which can mimic HDR photography will also be in the Lumix DCM-FZ35.  So if you are in the market for an HD camcorder and a digital camera, this would be a great buy.

Hi Gordon, your reviews are exellent!
A question: do you think it is worth to change my panasonic FZ28 with this FZ38?
Or will I be better to wait the next model?
    thanks, greetings form Italy!

Hello Gordon, i have a little problem, i want a new camera, my previous one was still a panasonic (poket size) and it was very good. I have to choise between this panasonic (FZ 35/38) and Nikon P90…what do you recommend? I’m interested in only this 2 models, nothing else! Witch one is better in option, photo quality, etc? Sorry for the trouble, and hope to hear from you soon!

Can you make a review of the new Lumix FZ 100?

Regarding the film length mentioned several times here. I guess the limitatin is if you want to record a whole clip which only can be recorded for 30 min with the FZ38 – model. Of course you must be able to record longer (as much as the card could take) streching over several movieclips. Who makes longer takes than 30 min ? Just tell me if I have understood this correctly. Regards, Fredrik

Regarding the film length mentioned several times here. I guess the limitations is if you want to record a whole clip which only can be recorded for X min with the FZ38 – model. Of course you must be able to record longer (as much as the card could take) streching over several movieclips. Who wants to make really long takes? Well, not many. Just tell me if I have understood this correctly. Regards, Fredrik

@rymdskrotet Yep, that’s right, you can just start filming a new clip. But the limit is annoying for people who want to record, say, concerts or long interviews without interruption.

Hello again. Another question. The Canon SX20 model seems to have manual recordlevel control. Is the same feature found in the Panasonic FZ38?

Well, I really can’t decide which one of these two cameras to buy. I’m not sure about the AA-batteries of the Canon, I also guess the will put some weight on. But, what I do like is the flash hotshoe and the naviwheel (i guess i would prefer to spin a wheel instead of tapping a joystick to for, ex. set the manual focus).

    Regards from Sweden =)
