Apple began shipping the iPad 2 in about 25 more countries today, which included: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. That’s the Wi-Fi only models. Plus Hong Kong, Singapore and a few other countries will get the Wi-Fi + 3G model in April.
“While competitors are still struggling to catch up with our first iPad, we’ve changed the game again with iPad 2,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
The second iteration of the iPad added features requested by users from the from iPad. This time the iPad 2 come with a camera and a few of plugin features. In addition, it is also lighter, which is about 33 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the original version. But that is not all, the iPad 2 now equipped with the Dual-core A5 chip. Apple claims that the A5 chip is twice as fast, and is able to handling higher-resolution games.
More powerful, thinner and lighter, yet the Apple iPad 2 provides up to 10 hours of battery life. That is about 3 more hours than the previous generation iPad. One thing we are still yearning for are a micro USB adapter and a micro SD slot for the iPad. Guess, we will have to wait for the iPad 3 version then.
If you don’t live in those mentioned countries, you can still get one at Amazaon for the 16GB iPad 2 for $618.
